The Big O Construction Story

Built on family, faith, hard work, and honest service

More than 20 years ago, I started Big O Construction with a simple hope: to build a business that would allow me to work hard while still being present for my family. At the time, I was a stay-at-home dad, and finding a way to balance work with our family’s circumstances was not easy. Through determination, sacrifice, and the hard work my wife and I shared, we found a way to make it work—and that foundation still shapes our company today.

Where It All Began

My experience in construction began in 1990, when my family remodeled the home where I grew up in Northern California. I was only eight years old, but I was already on the scaffolding helping with stucco. At a young age, I learned framing, foundations, and rough-ins, followed by flooring, drywall, and painting. As I grew older, I worked a variety of construction jobs and continued learning the trade from the ground up.

After gaining experience in finish work, I went to school to study plumbing and electrical systems. I had always been fascinated by the mystery of how those systems worked behind the walls. After graduating, I joined a local residential plumbing company and gained valuable experience serving homeowners.

A Different Kind of Company

One day at a company conference, we were told that we were expected to increase our invoices by finding a problem and making it worse. My heart sank. I could not accept the idea of taking advantage of customers simply because they did not understand the problem or know how to repair it. I respectfully resigned because I knew there had to be a better way to serve people.

When that employment ended, I immediately began the process of starting my own company. I wanted to help people without greed, deception, or pressure—just honest work, clear communication, and the same care I would want shown to my own family.

Built on Faith and Integrity

Big O Construction is built on a Christian foundation. We believe our morals and values should be visible in the way we carry ourselves, the quality of our work, and the respect we show every customer. We strive to honor both our customers and the Lord through our actions and every relationship we build.

We put our customers before ourselves and remain committed to being honest—no games, no pressure, and no questions asked. We are a small construction company, and we are proud to stay that way. It allows us to give our full attention and our hearts to every job, every home, and every customer.

Proudly Serving Greater Kansas City

For nearly nine years, we have been honored to serve homeowners throughout the greater Kansas City area. Much of our business has grown through word-of-mouth recommendations, and that means more to us than any advertisement ever could. Every referral represents trust earned through hard work, dependable service, and treating people the right way.

Thank you for taking the time to learn our story. Whether your project is large or small, we would be grateful for the opportunity to meet you, listen to your needs, and help care for your home. We look forward to welcoming you into the Big O Construction family.
